Policy Development Services

The CPG manufacturers represented by DRS strive to provide fair, equitable and reasonable compensation to trading partners for unsaleable products processed through reclamation centers. The 1990 Joint Industry Report on Product Reclamation Centers ("JIR") establishes guidelines for manufacturers, retailers andwholesalers. Within the framework of the JIR guidelines, manufacturers must appropriately focus on retailer reclamation center policies as well as product and regulatory developments.

Best Practices for CPG manufacturers require an Unsaleables Policy that clearly sets forth the method and basis of reimbursement for a manufacturer's unsaleable products, plus specific product disposition instructions.

DRS provides ongoing counsel, advice and guidance to CPG manufacturers with respect to multiple policy initiatives, including:

Unsaleable policy review, modification and/or development within the framework of manufacturer priorities, goals and objectives.
Physical control of unsaleables returns processed through reclamation centers, for brand equity protection and for validation with damage claim invoices.
Handling policies for discontinued SKU's and returned goods with emphasis on customer service, control and returned goods cost minimization.
Pallet and case lot recovery services.
Cost recovery opportunities associated with saleable returned goods.
Dock-to Dock Servicessm including materials handling, storage, and cartage/transportation systems.
Claims invoice processing with unsaleables policy compliance compared against physical goods receipt and scan/package condition analysis.                                      Back to Services
